Quetta Gladiators skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has said that he is proud to have players like Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain in his side as the fast bowling duo provide an edge to his team ahead of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020.
Naseem on Sunday became the youngest ever bowler to claim a hat-trick in Test Cricket at the age of 16 years and 359 days during third day’s play of the Rawalpindi Test against Bangladesh.
Earlier, Hasnain got a T20I hat-trick at the age of 19 during Pakistan’s T20I series against Sri Lanka in October.
Sarfaraz said of the fast bowling duo that it is good to have such a pace duo at his disposal.
“It is important for us to have such players. It surely makes me feel proud and confident ahead of the PSL,” Sarfaraz told geo.tv in Karachi.
“But, we aren’t getting complacent as in T20I events you can’t say one team is favourite and the other isn’t, so we’ll have to give our 100% on the field,” he said.
However, Sarfaraz said that he’s confident of a good show by his team and looks forward to putting his best foot forward.
Talking about Naseem, Sarfaraz revealed that when the 16-year-old was unfit last year, the team management of the Gladiators had kept their faith in him and decided not to release him from the squad, despite having another option available.
“We could have replaced him but we didn’t do that. Instead, we kept him with our squad and worked on his rehabilitation and fitness, we always knew that he is going to be a super star very soon and I give credit to the management of Gladiators for having faith in him,” Sarfaraz said.
