LAHORE: The energy shortfall continues across the country and due to no increase in electricity generation, loadshedding is taking place during Sehri and Iftar, Geo News reported.
In order to deal with this problem a decision has been made to provide relief to households by stopping the supply of electricity to industries during Sehri and Iftar.
According to the spokesperson for PEPCO, electricity generation is currently 14,921 MW while demand is 18,519 MW. This has created a shortfall of 3,598 MW.
The spokesperson adds that Karachi was being supplied 790 MW and large cities were experiencing 6-9 hours of loadshedding while smaller cities were facing 13 hours of loadshedding. The situation in rural areas is worse and 16 hours of loadshedding is taking place.
