PSL 2020: Quetta Gladiators accuse Zalmi's Wahab Riaz of ball tampering

Quetta Gladiators have claimed that Peshawar Zalmi’s Wahab Riaz tampered the ball in Saturday’s match which they lost by six wickets at the National Stadium Karachi, according to reports.

Quetta Gladiators Sarfaraz Ahmad confirmed that he had written about the ball tampering allegations in his report.

The team complained to the match officials that the ball was allegedly tampered by Wahab during their innings. The Gladiators added that due to the incident they could not hand a competitive total to Zalmi.

The left-arm quickie had taken two wickets for 21 runs in the fourth match of the Pakistan Super League’s fourth match.

The Match Referee for the game was Sri Lanka’s Roshan Mahanama, while the on-field umpires were Richard Illingworth and Faisal Afridi.

PCB’s Director Media Sami Burney was not available for comments.

In the match, a blistering century by Kamran Akmal and disciplined bowling by Wahab Riaz had helped Peshawar Zalmi beat defending champions Quetta Gladiators by six wickets to score their first points on the table.

The in-form Akmal smashed four sixes for his century and played 13 strokes to the boundary to score 101 off 54, his third century of PSL career and 5th in T20 career.

The Gladiators had scored 148/5 in 20 overs after they were asked to bat first by Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Darren Sammy.

Jason Roy was the top-scorer for Gladiators who remained unbeaten after scoring 73 off 57 hitting six boundaries and a sixer.
