LAHORE: Monsoon rains in the city led to low lying areas being inundated while roads, streets and markets resembled lakes, Geo News reported. Following the rain, hospitals in the city were placed on high alert.
Rain in the city started early this morning and lasted for five hours. Underpasses were filled with water and cars left stranded leading to traffic jams in several areas. Lakshmi Chowk, Garhi Shahu, Davis road, Iqbal town, Johar town, Ichra, Shad Bagh, north Lahore and several areas of the city were inundated.
During this time no official from WASA or any other government body was seen. In Shahdara a boy, Imran was killed when the roof of his house collapsed, while his sister was injured. A young man also lost his life due to electrocution in Misri Shah.
