LAHORE: Additional Director General FIA, Zafar Qureshi was not allowed to enter his office following a bomb hoax call at the FIA Punjab headquarters in Lahore on Saturday, Geo News reported. Qureshi was recently restored by the Supreme Court to investigate National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam.
According to sources, a phone call on Assistant Director Khawaja Hammadur Rehman’s phone warned him of a bomb planted inside the building.
The bomb disposal squad cleared the building after search, however the building was locked soon after the search.
The building was evacuated and 18 people who were being kept at the office were handed over to the investigation officers.
The NICL scam investigating officer had called a meeting of the investigation team today at the FIA office, however, Qureshi found the door locked upon arrival.
Sources said that the hoax call might have been an attempt disrupt the meeting of the investigation team.
