Urs of Hazrat Sachal Sarmast today

KHAIRPUR: All arrangements have been finalized for the 190th annual Urs of saint poet Hazrat Sachal Sarmast, beginning from 14th Ramazan, 15th August, Monday at Daraza Sharif.

According to sources, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah will visit Daraza Sharif on 15th Ramazan and officially inaugurate the annual Urs. He will also attend the Mehfil-e-Samaa at the shrine.

The CM Sindh has also announced 15th August as a local holiday in Khairpur due to the Urs.

There were reports that the District Government Khairpur faced some problems in the publication of the Urs celebration literature like souvenir, because the Sindh government had restored the commissionerate system and DCO was redesigned as DC while souvenir carried messages with the designations of commissioner, deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner. In the meantime, the Sindh government restored the local government ordinance of 2001 and therefore necessary changes in the souvenirs have been made.
