Zafar Qureshi resumes duty

KARACHI: Additional Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Zafar Qureshi resumed his duties after taking charge of his office Monday, Geo News reported. He is currently investigating into the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case.

Earlier on Saturday, he was stopped from attending his ‘first day’ in office when security officials barred him from entering the FIA building after a hoax call regarding a bomb.

Assistant Director Mohammad Ahmed was the only investigating officer present when Qureshi reached the office. The other four officers were absent due to personal reasons.

According to sources, Deputy Director Basharat Shehzad has gone to perform Umrah while Deputy DirectorJ aved Shah was ill and Assistant Director Khalid Hanif was not in contact.

Qureshi was reinstated to his post last week after the Supreme Court quashed his July 4 suspension order.
