It’s a travesty of civil awards: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan Monday said that the government has made a travesty of civil awards and Mr Zardari seems to believe he’s the rightful owner of every walk of life in Pakistan.

In a press statement issued here Nisar, without mincing words, said Mr Zardari is bent on abusing his powers by crossing all the lines. He went on to say that he (Zardari) has thrown away civil awards unmeritoriously only to make his buffs, party workers, and staff members happy. It was like a loot sale is on, he added.

This nepotistic awarding of civil medals is a throwback to Raja Ranjeet Singh’s notorious indulgences of the same sort back in the day, an upset Nisar said.

He said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would raise this matter in the very next National Assembly session so that these prestigious awards, instead of becoming some kind of a political bribe driven my favouritism, should be given away meritoriously.
