RAWALPINDI: Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major-General Babar Iftikhar on Monday morning said that a two-year old boy, identified as Muhammad Haseeb, embraced martyrdom as Indian troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).

Four others, including a 72 year-old woman, sustained serious injuries over the past twenty-four hours in the ceasefire violations as Indian troops used artillery and heavy mortars to target civilians, DG ISPR Maj Gen Iftikhar added.

"Indian Army troops in total disregard to ceasefire agreement and international conventions initiated unprovoked ceasefire violations along LoC deliberately targeting civilian population in Baroh, Dhudnial, Rakhchikri and Chirikot Sectors," he said in a post on Twitter.

"Pakistan army troops effectively responded and targeted those Indian posts which initiated fire. Injured have been evacuated to nearby health facility for necessary medical care," he added.

The Foreign Office added the Indian troops along the LoC and working boundary (WB) had continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-calibre mortars and automatic weapons.

Pakistan Army shoots down Indian quadcopter

Pakistan Army shot down an Indian quadcopter last week that violated the Pakistani airspace in Sankh Sector along the Line of Control (LoC), the ISPR confirmed.

“In this provocative act, Indian quadcopter intruded 600 meters inside Pakistan’s territory for conducting surveillance,” the military’s media wing said in a statement.

“This blatant act was aggressively responded to by Pakistan Army troops shooting down Indian quadcopter. Such unwarranted acts by Indian Army are clear violation of established norms,” it added.
