ISLAMABAD: Dr Sania Nishtar, special assistant to the prime minister on poverty alleviation and social safety net, visited an Ehsaas Emergency Cash payment site "disguised in Burqa" to inspect the arrangements for herself.
"Disguised in Burqa, I visited #EhsaasEmergencyCash payment site at Nurpur Shahan to monitor payments to category-3 beneficiaries that began today. It was intended to assess arrangements in terms of quality of services, transparency in payments & adherence to #COVID19 measure," she tweeted.

PM Imran had launched the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme after the government imposed a countrywide lockdown. The prime minister had said that the aim of the programme was to ensure the daily wage earners and the poor were provided relief during the lockdown.
The Rs144bn programme aims to provide Rs12,000 to 12 million families (72 million individuals). Dr Sania Nishtar and the PTI government has said that it is the largest social protection initiative in the history of Pakistan.
