ISLAMABAD: Chief investigating officer in the NICL scam case, Zafar Qureshi informed the National Assembly standing committee that Supreme Court orders in relation to the case had been repeatedly violated, Geo News reported Thursday.
Qureshi informed the committee that during investigation of the case, he was transferred four times and suspended thrice. He said the accused in the case had influential lawyers and that Rs1. 7 billion had been recovered while Rs 420 million was left. Moonis Elahi owed Rs320 million.
Secretary Finance informed the committee that a summary for the new NICL chairman had been sent to Prime Minister Gilani last week.
The committee gave directives for the formation of the NICL board and to meet the requirements of the investigation team.
The committee also sent the matter relating to the supply routes of NATO and ISAF tankers to the defence committee.
