MULTAN: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday announced to set up engineering and medical universities in Multan and promised that work on the women university project would begin soon.
Addressing a ceremony for yellow cab scheme draw at the Multan Arts Council, the CM said that hockey and football stadiums would also be built in the city.
He said that Hafiz Jamal road and Dehli gate road would be constructed.
A total of 10,655 applicants had filed applications under yellow cab scheme in Multan division, and of them 2911 applicants were selected through a transparent process of draw.
South Punjab has been given 40 per cent quota out of totalallocation for the whole province to provide honourable means of earning to the unemployed educated youth, the CM said.
He said that provincial government was providing 20000 cars to the unemployed youth through a transparent system while it had received 70000 applications.
He said the government was also providing computers to100,000 youth. He said that those involved in the killings of innocentpeople in Karachi should be dealt with an iron hand.
He said that there was a need to change the system to lay the foundation of a Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam MuhammadAli Jinnah and Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
He said that Pakistan emerged on the world map after numerous sacrifices rendered by our forefathers and added that it was our duty to keep our motherland safe from all threats.
He said that change would hardly come from Assembly, rather people would have to come on roads to bring about change.
He said that situation in the country could not improve merely by changing faces and added that the system is needed to be changed.
He said that the power plants at Chichu Ki Malian and Nandipur, each having 450 megawatt capacity, have not been made operational despite passage of two years, and stressed that those responsible for this should be held accountable.
Shahbaz Sharif said that he would hold discussions with PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif after Eidul Fitr upon his return to the country.
PML-N senior vice president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, SardarZulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Punjab Auqaf minister Haji EhsanuddinQureshi, senator Pervaiz Rasheed, MNA Begum Tehmina Daultana, MNA Rana Mehmoodul Hassan, MNA Maimoona Hashmi, MPA Abdul WaheedArain, Rana Shahid Mehmood and Amir Saeed Ansari were also present.
