FAISALABAD: As many as 1,913,615 bags of Sasta Atta (flour) have so far been sold in the district during the holy month of Ramzan on subsidized rates.
This was said by DCO Naseem Sadiq while talking to the media persons here on Monday.
Giving details, he said that 1,195,444 flour bags of 10 kilogram weight each were supplied in the open market while 718,171 bags were provided in 25 Sastay Ramzan Bazaars.
He said that effective mechanism had been devised for the transparent distribution of subsidized flour in the district for which supervisory committees had been constituted to check the quality and quantity of the flour.
He said that the consumers had been provided quality flour and an action was taken against the flour mills found involved in supplying substandard flour.
He announced that the sale of subsidized flour would also remain continued on August 30 and 34,520 bags of flour were provided in Ramzan Bazaars while supply of subsidized Atta to local market had been stopped.
The DCO said that the 783,000 kilogram sugar had also been sold in the Ramzan bazaars on subsidized price of Rs.68/- per kg. He said that the quota of cheap sugar had been completed by August 29 (today).
