GUJRANWALA: A tenant robbed his landlord in Punjab’s Gujranwala on Saturday after he was unable to pay the rent due to the coronavirus lockdown in the city, reported Geo New on Saturday.
In a bizarre turn, to avoid being recognised, the tenant donned a burqa and robbed his landlord's house. The landlord became suspicious and informed police about the incident, after which they arrested the tenant.
According to the tenant, he was two months' behind on his rent due to the coronavirus lockdown, which has dented the country's economy.
"I made the plan to rob my landlord after I could not pay two months' rent," he said.
Police said that the man will face the consequences of his punishment. However, they collected the money stolen from the landlord and paid it as his rent so that the tenant's wife and children could continue to stay in the house.
