MULTAN: A waste water treatment plant will be set up in Multan that will treat the sewerage waste before it is dumped into the river Chenab through a sludge carrier for proper disposal of sewerage waste while keeping aqua life of river safe.
Official sources said that the government has released funds for this. The plant would be set up at Suraj Miani area.
A Rs4 billion plan to build a 40 kilometers long sludge carrier to carry sewerage waste to river Chenab from Matti Tal area has been sent to Punjab government for approval and officials believe it would solve sewerage problems of the city once for all.
This sludge carrier would carry sludge from disposal stations including Kiri Jamandan, Sameejabad and old Shujabad, which are part of the South Zone of the city.
Officials said that 40km sludge carrier plan would be forwarded to federal government by provincial government for release of funds.
Another seven kilometers long sludge carrier plan was already under execution and 2.5 kilometers portion has been completed.
This sludge carrier would carry wastewater from north zone disposal stations including Chungi No 9 and Suraj Miani to river Chenab. (APP)
