It was a sight for sore eyes for animal lovers at the Peshawar Zoo to catch a glimpse of two healthy tiger cubs, born on Monday.
According to local media news, the administration of the zoo said that the gender of the cubs cannot be ascertained for a period of 15 days.
The administration further said that the cubs are in good shape and being looked after by the zoo staff.
People rushed to the zoo to see the two tiger cubs after news of their birth was reported in the media.
While the news is a cause of joy for many it is also of concern for a few as the Peshawar zoo has time and again gained media attention over alleged neglect of animals.
Earlier this year, the residents of Peshawar filed a plea against the dismal condition of the zoo, which was claiming the lives of caged animals.
A report said that in the last nine months, more than 18 animals perished to the harsh living conditions at the zoo. The issue of the zookeepers being untrained was also highlighted.
In 2018, it was reported that more than 34 animals have died at the Peshawar zoo since its inauguration in February.
