34 students perish, many hurt in Chakwal bus accident

CHAKWAL: Thirty four students perished including a school principal while more than 50 others sustained injuries when a bus met an accident on motorway at Kalar Kahar Salt Range on Monday, Geo News reported.

According to Motorways police, the students of Millat Grammar School had come from Faisalabad to Kalar Kahar for a picnic and on their way back the bus they were traveling on met a tragic accident after its brakes failed to function.

According to reports, more than 100 students were on board the ill-fated bus besides 10 members of the school staff.

The injured have been shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Chakwal.

RPO Zubair said there were many injured but expressed inability to confirm the number of dead.
