HYDERABAD: According to the report gathered from concerned District Administrations, rain affected in the Hyderabad Region have started to return to their villages/homes especially in Badin, Jamshoro and Matiari districts.
However, 2,48,321 affectees are still living in 1,648 relief camps in Hyderabad Region excluding Dadu district from where report about affectees could not obtained.
The District Administration Badin informed that 278 relief camps had been established earlier in the district where about 1,50,000 rain affectees provided shelter along with other living facilities, but after receding of rain water, as many as 1,21,964 rain affectees have returned to their villages/homes. Subsequently 160 relief camps have been closed while 118 relief camps were still running with 28,036 affectees.
Similarly, the reports from District Administrations Jamshoro and Matiari have also been received that rain affectees in the number of 500 from Jamshoro and few thousands from Matiari have been to their native places.
The report further stated that as many as 2,48,321 affectees are still residing in relief camps in the Hyderabad Region except Dadu district out of which 5300 affectees are residing in 12 relief camps in Thatta, about 18,000 in 190 relief camps in Tando Mohammad Khan, 65,000 affectees in 248 relief camps in Tando Allahyar, 67,643 affectees in 315 relief camps in Matiari, 10,253 affectees in 64 relief camps in Jamshoro, 48,672 affectees in 660 relief camps in Shaheed Benazirabad and 5417 affectees are living in 15 relief camps in Hyderabad district.
It was also informed that 1, 46,626 tents have been provided to the rainaffectees residing outside the relief camps, out of these 40,000 tents have been provided at Badin district, 8669 tents at Thatta district, 11,000 tents at Tando Mohammad Khan, 10,000 tents at Tando Allahyar, 3600 tents at Matiari, 3822 tents at Jamshoro, 66,000 tents at Shaheed Benazirabad and 3535 tents have been provided at Hyderabad district.
It may be recall that due to torrential rains of current monsoon,35,16,489 people were affected in the region which include 10,21,301 in Badin district, 1,77,838 in Thatta district, 5,70,000 in Tando Mohammad Khan district, 5,00,000 in Tando Allahyar district, 2,00,000 in Matiari district, 97,350 in Jamshoro district, 9,00,000 in Shaheed Benazirabad district and 50,000 people were affected in Hyderabad district.
The Administrations of these districts were of the view that government will continue the relief support to all affectees, till they are facing difficulties either at their relief camps or at their homes.
