QUETTA: Child mortality ratio is higher in Pakistan as comparison with many other countries and there is need of hour to take practical measures to halt the menace.
This was said in second day's session of 15th National Pediatric Conference held in Quetta at night between Saturday and Sunday. Pediatric shields were given away to specialist doctors who carried out research work and discharged their services regarding child health.
Professor Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Ballo said that he had trained hundreds of doctors in pediatric field including Dr. Ruqayya Hashmi and many others who had been serving masses.
He said that unfortunately, 70 children by age of one year and 90 children by age of five year from every 1000 children died every year due to fatal diseases.
Balochistan Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr. Ruqayya Saeed Hashmi said that as a mother she was aware of grievance of children. I will try my best for launching of practical measures at government level and others to provide facilities to hospitals for child health, she said.
Dr. Ameer Muhammad Jogezai said that about 70 children from every 100 were facing lack of food.
The specialist doctors who received pediatric shields include Dr. Zareen Fasih, Dr. Ayesha Minhas, Dr. Jalal Akbar, Dr, Shazia Maqboo, Dr. Mehnaz, Dr. Shehnaz, Dr. Mushtaq Memon, Dr. Sahibzada Masood, Dr. Bashir Abro, Dr. Rukhsana, Dr. Noor Baloch, Dr. Amir Daud, Dr. Adnan, Dr. Lutf, Dr Qamar Zaman, Dr. Ashraf Sultan, Dr. Pervaiz Akbar, Dr. Yousuf Pervez, Dr. Abdul Bari, Dr. Ghulam Ali Achakzai, Dr. Nasar Ahmed Siddiqui, Dr. Habibullah Babar, Dr. Mushtaq Jaffar and Dr. Ameer Jogezai.
A large number of doctors from across the country participated in the conference.
