According to police, Rangers and police, on a tip-off, laid siege to a Madressa and mosque situated on Katti Kahari. As they started a search operation, the police and Rangers were fired upon by unknown assailants. This led to an exchange of fire between the police and militatns which still continues.
Reinforcements of police and Rangers have been called after the start of gunfight.
