RAWALPINDI: A grand anti-encroachment operation is being run while special raids are also being conducted in many city markets to remove all kinds of encroachments said Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Mian Muhammad Akram.
Talking to APP, he said that daily four-five trucks loaded with goods are being confiscated and deposited in the TMA store.
He said the grand clean-up operation against encroachments launched on the special instructions of Administrator Rawal Town/Assistant Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa, which is underway in the city. Special teams under the supervision of Town Officer Regulation Aftab Ahmed Chohan are regularly conducting raids at Raja Bazaar, Liaquat Road, Benazir Bhutto road, Gunjmandi, Jamia Masjid Road, Commercial Market, Sadiqabad and other areas of the city.
The vendors who were found selling their products while displaying on footpaths and different city roads are imposed fines with warnings.
Meanwhile, Administrator Rawal Town has once again warned the shopkeepers, not to involve in any encroachment, which causes trouble for pedestrians as well as other road users adding, stern action would be taken against the violators.
He directed the officials concerned to take stringent measures to remove encroachments.
An effective strategy to discourage illegal construction should also be devised, he instructed.
Mian Muhammad Akram said that the operation against encroachments would continue and no one would be spared. (APP)
