MULTAN: Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Sunday that country was facing multiple problems which could be resolved by utilizing country's natural resources.
Delivering a lecture at a local hotel organized by 'Jaago Pakistan Movement,' Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan was the fifth biggest country of the world rich with natural resources.
He stressed the need for improving economy to make the country prosperous.
He also laid stress on improving the performance of WAPDA, Pakistan Railways, PIA and Pakistan Steel. He said that only 1.8 million people, out of 180 million pay taxes in the country.
Qureshi said that around 76 million people were living under the poverty line in the country, adding that capitalists prefer to make investment abroad instead of Pakistan.
He said that local investment was the only way to alleviate poverty from the country.
He said that ever increasing population in the country was the main reason of problems. He thanked print and electronic media for highlighting issues in the country.
