FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) has demanded that the government should take concrete steps to eradicate street crimes including murder, dacoity, robbery, theft and abduction incidents by eliminating criminals' activities at grassroots level.
Addressing a meeting of leading trade and textile associations at PTEA Headquarters here on Tuesday, Rana Arif Tauseef, Chairman of PTEA, condemned the murder of Khawaja Javaid Aziz, an industrialist and demanded the government to take practical steps and strict measures to control law and order situation in the textile hub of the country.
He said, textile was the baseline of national economy, which was earning precious foreign exchange and providing 40 percent employment to labour force and added that it was, therefore, imperative that peace and security should be ensured at all costs in the industrial hub of country.
Shahzad Siddiq Chaudhary Vice Chairman PTEA, Rehan Naseem Bharara Vice President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), Qamar Aftab Vice Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA) North Zone, Mian Aftab Ahmad Chairman All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) and others attended the meeting.
Chairman PAEC to visit Faisalabad on Wednesday FAISALABAD, Oct 18 (APP): Chairman Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Dr Ansar Pervez will visit Faisalabad here on Wednesday and chair an International Conference on "Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture: Value Chain Management".
This conference will be organized by University of Agriculture Faisalabad at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday in connection to open its 4-day Rabi Festival which is also a part of its Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
A spokesman of the UAF told that this festival will include agricultural exhibition international conference, seminars, Kisan Convention, Mehfil-e-Milad, cultural shows and many other programs in which scientists from 30 countries across the globe are participating.
Giving details, he said that on Wednesday, an International Conference on "Urban and Peri- Urban Agriculture: Value Chain Management" will open at 9:00 a.m. that will be chaired by Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Dr Ansar Pervez.
The inauguration ceremony of Agricultural Exhibition will be held at 11:00 a.m. The university will also organize Mehfil-e-Milad at 7:30 p.m.
He said that on October 20, the university will open International Workshop on "Pest Management Concerns", Kisan Convention and Cultural Show at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. respectively.
On October 21, the International conference and workshop will remain continue while a cultural show arranged by the Senior Tutor office will be presented before the audience at 7:30 p.m.
On October 22, the concluding ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. while in evening a function on Heer Waris Shah will be held at Iqbal Auditorium, he added.
