In the two and a half years since PM Imran Khan assumed office, the FBR has seen five chairpersons.

The shortest tenure was of Rukhsana Yasmin, who chaired the board for two months – July to August 2018. She was replaced by Jehanzeb Khan who helmed the post for nine months before PM Imran appointed Shabbar Zaidi.

After a tumultuous 11 months in which Zaidi attempted to bring tax reforms, the economist took an indefinite leave in January. Nausheen Javaid Amjad was first appointed as acting chairman and then chairman.

Three months later, she was replaced by Javed Ghani – who has held the position since July.
