RAWALPINDI: As many as 2353 sanitary workers will perform duties on Eid-ul-Azha in Rawalpindi City and Cantonment Board (CB) areas as comprehensive plans have been formulated in this regard by the authorities concerned.
Rawalpindi City District Government and Cantonment Board administration have finalized comprehensive cleanliness plans for Eid-ul-Azha to get rid of entrails and offal of animals under which maximum available resources would be utilized to fulfill the task during Eid holidays, claimed officials concerned of the relevant departments.
Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) Cantonment Board, Kamran Towfeeq said that a comprehensive cleanliness plan for Eid-ul-Azha has been formulated under which over 800 sanitary workers will perform duty.
He said over 30 vehicles would be used to remove garbage, entrails of animals and offal from all cantonment areas.
The cleanliness plan has been finalized in a special meeting presided by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Cantonment Board Rana Manzoor here.
According to the plan, Cantonment Board has been divided into six sectors to make effective the cleanliness arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha while a control room/complaint cell would also be set up having phone number 051-9274403. The citizens can record their complaints on the given phone number, he informed.
Kamran Towfeeq informed that all the sectors would have a separate Sanitary Inspector In-charge to clear the area effectively.
The ACEO said that the Eid holidays of all the sanitary workers of CB have been cancelled while officials of the department concerned to ensure cleanliness during the Eid days.
He urged the citizens to cooperate with the sanitary workers and dump entrails of the sacrificial animals and offal at specific collection points from where, these could be removed properly.
He said after completion of the cleanliness task and removal of offal, all collection points and other areas would be cleaned and sprayed.
While, the entire operation will be supervised by additional CEOs who will remain present in the cantonment office during Eid holidays.
Meanwhile, talking to APP District Officer, Solid Waste Management, City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) Dr. Mazhar Azeem informed that under the plan formulated in this regard 1553 sanitary workers with 65 vehicles will perform duty.
He said 65 vehicles with a large number of hand carts would be used to remove garbage and offal from all city areas.
The cleanliness plan was finalized in a special meeting presided by Executive District Officer, Municipal Services Imtiaz Ahmad Malik here.
According to the plan Rawal Town has been distributed into four sectors to make effective the cleanliness arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha while a control room would also be set up.
Commercial Market, Satellite Town, Sadiqabad, New Katrian, Pindora and other areas will be included in Sector A. Chief Sanitary Inspector Zulfiqar Shah will be In-charge of the sector. The citizens can record their complaints on mobile phone number 0333-4811727.
Makha Singh street, Millat colony, Muslim Town, Afandi Colony, Mohala Cha Sultan, Araya Mohala, Amarpura and other areas will be included in Sector B. Chief Sanitary Inspector Fiqeer Javed and Toqeer Khan will be heads of this sector who can be contacted on 0300-5146929 and 0333-8507171 respectively.
Main commercial areas of the city including Raja Bazaar, Shah Nazar Dewan, Jamia Masjid Road, Liaquat Road, Kartarpura, Akalghar, Bunni, Kohati bazaar and adjacent areas will be included in Sector C. Chief Sanitary Inspector Inamul Haq will be responsible for the cleanliness of the area with mobile phone number 0333-5176576.
Peerwadhai, Khaiban-e-Sir-Syed, Dhoke Matkal, Dhoke Hassu, Fauji Colony and surrounding areas will be in sector D which will be covered by Gul Baz Satti with mobile phone 0333-5176578.
Qadeer Butt, mobile phone number 0333-516534 will be in-charge motor vehicles for sector A and B and Ijaz Gill having mobile phone number 0300-5315910 will be the head of sector C and D.
All the four sectors would work under a control room. The residents have been directed to contact on these numbers about any complaints 0333-5249638, 051-5950141.
While EDO Municipal Services Imtiaz Ahmed Malik can also be contacted in case of any difficulty regarding cleanliness problems in any area of the city on mobile phone number 0300-9459367.
The District Officer informed that the solid waste management department of the city district government has cancelled Eid holidays of around 1600 sanitary workers and officials of the department to ensure cleanliness during the Eid days.
Dr. Mazhar said that banners to spread awareness have been displayed at all main points of the city in this regard which have phone numbers of the relevant officers with their names.
Collection points have also been established for the convenience of the public at Union Council level, he informed.
He said after completion of the cleanliness task and removal of offal, all collection points and other areas would be cleaned properly and sprayed. (APP)
