RAHA-Balochistan distributes solar panels

QUETTA: Refugee Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA) Programme Balochistan distributed as many as 842 solar energy panels among the poor families in the areas where still electricity facility is unavailable.

RAHA-Balochistan Communication coordinator told a news agency here Monday that about 28 solar water pumps including a community water storage tank had also been installed and made functional in far-flung areas of the province in order to ensure potable water to the population. These solar water pumps have been installed at village level in Chagai, Killa Abdullah, Pishin, Loralai and Quetta districts, he added.

Residents of these areas were still devoid of electricity and potable water facilities and with the installation of solar water pumps and solar energy panels their problems in this regard had been redressed to a considerable extent.

Besides, the RAHA initiative also brought some relief to women folk of these areas who were responsible to cater for water needs of their respective family.

He said the Programmes social mobilization teams formed community based organizations comprising local community members in order to ensure sustainability and ownership of the endeavor. These community organizations were awarded schemes, after training in Monitoring, Leadership Management Skills and Community Management Skills. (APP)
