Princess Diana's letters' collection was sold at auction for a whopping amount of £82,000 (about $113,000)

Princess Diana wrote a number of private letters and sent handwritten notes and cards to the people she cared for.

As Tatler reports, the Princess of Wales' letters collection was sold at auction for a whopping amount of £82,000 (about $113,000).

According to Marie Claire, the letters were all written for a family friend Roger Bramble, between 1990 and 1997, and had been sitting in a closet in the Bramble family home since 24 years.

In a statement, the Bramble family said, "We have been concerned that contemporary portrayals of Diana may become accepted wisdom in the minds of the public. We believe these letters reveal the writer to be an affectionate, cultivated and delightful human being and that their wider publication could only do credit to their author."

The letters include the late royal shedding details about the various challenges she faced in life, regarding her divorce with Charles and the media scrutiny she endured.

Diana's fans residing in both UK and the US placed bets on the letters.

According to Mimi Connell of David Lay Auctions, "People just love Diana, she was enormously popular. You learn a lot more about her as a person from reading these letters. You see her character and personality and intelligence come out."
