HYDERABAD: The people in Hyderabad celebrated Sindhi Culture Day here on Saturday expressing love for their language, culture and its symbols, Sindhi cap and Ajarak, as they took out rallies and danced to the tune of Sindhi songs.
Many media and civil society groups, the Pakistan People's Party and Sindhi nationalist parties set up stages equipped with the music systems in different parts of the city and also took out separate rallies.
However, all the rallies flocked at Hyderabad Press Club one after another where a large stage was set up for performance of cultural dances, songs and speeches by the political leaders.
Wearing Sindhi caps and Aajraks the people danced on the Sindhi and folksongs and chanted slogans praising their culture and its symbols.
Sindh Minister for Fisheries, who led the PPP rally, said while addressing the crowd that people of Sindh were devotedly attached to their culture and civilization.
The PPP government was promoting all the cultures of Pakistan through academic study, research and by organizing traditional activities.
"These people wearing Sindhi cap and Ajarak are the strength of the PPP," he remarked.
However, he declared that the Sindh Government decided to mark the daywith simplicity because of the recent rain and flood devastation in Sindh and also because of the demise of Madar-i-Jamohriat Begum Nusrat Bhutto. The PPP leaders Amanullah Siyal, Syed Saleem Shah, Noorunissa Abro and others also addressed the rally. The PPP's labour Bureau, Ladies Wing, Lawyers and Doctors Forum also took out separate rallies.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement also organized a function at theparty's zonal office at Bhai Khan incline.
The local leaders of the party presented the guests with the gifts ofSindhi cap and Ajarak.
The day was also celebrated in Jamshoro, Dadu, Matiari, Tando Allahyar,Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin, Thatta and other parts of the province.
Sindh Media Forum laid a chadar at the shrine of Hazrat Shah Abdul LatifBhitai while the Sindhi national sports of Malakhra and Kodi Kodi were also arranged in some districts. (APP)
