Memo issue to go to PM, if Haqqani found involved: Mukhtar

LAHORE: Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar Sunday said the memo issue would go to the prime minister, if Haqqani was found to be involved, Geo News reported.

The next few days would be difficult for politics, however there was no possibility of martial law, he predicted.

Addressing a news conference here, the defence minister said that details relating to the memo issue would soon come to the fore, but digging out facts pertaining to the mastermind of the memo conspiracy would take some time.
Mukhtar said there was no possibility of military government in the country, "let Nawaz Sharif try if he wants to overthrow the government," he added.

“Mansoor Ijaz is an intriguer, who had been involved in such intrigues earlier also. Hussain Haqqani is part of the prime minister’s team; the PM cannot sack a bureaucrat abruptly. Any conclusion could only be drawn after Haqqani’s explanation," Ahmad Mukhtar said

He further said that action would be taken on whatever comes out of the investigations. If Hussain Haqqani is found to be involved then the prime minister will be taking the decision, he added.
