Ex-GS, MoI, ECHS convicted on embezzlement charge

RAWALPINDI: Accountability Court No. IV Rawalpindi Thursday convicted Major (retd) Muhammad Sharif Sabir, Ex-General Secretary, Ministry of Interior Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Islamabad on the charge of embezzlement in MIECHS funds.

The Court awarded seven years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and also fined him Rs 20.20 million. In case of default, the convict will have to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years.

The Reference was filed in Accountability Court No.4 Rawalpindi and the charge was framed on 20.04.2007. It took approximately five years to conclude the reference. On the conclusion of the trial accused have been found guilty of the said offence and convicted today.
