RAWALPINDI: The encroachers have set up their stalls at Banni chowk which are creating problems in the smooth flow of over-loaded traffic in the area.
Police have devised traffic plan to control traffic on Murree Road due to the ongoing construction of Chandni Chowk Flyover the traffic plying between Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been diverted to facilitate motorists, It may be pointed out here that traffic remains blocked at Banni chowk, as restaurants and shopkeepers have encroached the area.
The traffic mess is creating problems not only for the area residents but also for motorists besides dust and noise pollution.Talking to APP, Town Regulation Officer (TR0) Aftab Ahmed Chohan said that action would be taken against the shopkeepers and hotels that are creating hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic.
He warned the shopkeepers and hotels owners to remove the encroachments else face action. He said heavy fine would be imposed besides confiscating their goods.
Meanwhile the work on the shifting of utility services is continuing and Rs22.27 million have been paid to the concerned departments.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed has said that the flyover would be completed within 90-days at the cost of Rs1.2 billion. (APP)
