MULTAN: Syed Ali Mousa Gilani said on Sunday that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani had promised to establish Regional Office of 'Academy of Letters Pakistan', Writers Club and a modern library in the city.
Addressing a book launching ceremony of MNA Bushra Rehman, he said that Prime Minster would inaugurate the new building of Pakistan Television (PTV) in Multan next week.
Mousa Gilani announced Rs 2 million for "Sukhanwar Forum" for the promotion of literary activities.
The ceremony was organized by the forum at State Bank Auditorium here on Sunday. Syed Ali Mousa Gilani said that Pakistan People's Party (PPP) had always preferred the suggestion of scholars. He said that scholars had raised voice for establising South Punjab as a new province before demand was made by politicians.
"We feel pride that the famous scholar, novelist and columnist Bushra Rehman belongs to South Punjab," he added.
He said that Writers Clubs would be set up in all districts and it would be initiated from Multan.
Bushra Rehman said that she considered Multan as her home city. She said that she always wrapped up love and affection from the people of this city.
Dr Muhammad Ameen, Prof Anwar Jamal, Abdul Jabbar Mufti, Dr Sajjad, Haider Pervez, Qamar Raza,, Shakar Hussain Shakar, Dr Najma, Shaheen Khosa, Zia Saqib Bukhari and others also spoke on the occasion. (APP)
