Nasir upsets Farhan to lift Sindh National Squash title

KARACHI: Third seed Nasir Iqbal stunned favorite Farhan Zaman in the final to clinch men’s event title in 5th DG Rangers Sindh National Squash here Saturday at Sindh Rangers Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.

Ranked 134th in the world circuit, Nasir overpowered nine places higher ranked opponent Farhan Zaman in straight-sets recording a convincing 11-7, 11-5, 11-1 triumph in 36 minutes to secure the title.

With the win, Nasir cashed Rs 78500 while Farhan Zaman took away Rs 53500.

Meanwhile, fourth seed Roshna Mehboob dispatched unseeded Saadia Gul in the final in 28 minutes, recording a formidable 11-6, 11-5, 11-6 victory. Roshna claimed Rs 37000 while Saadia received Rs.25000.

Asim Khan, who started his campaign in Boys U17 event from qualifying round, eventually clinched the event’s title after beating unseeded Salman Mohib in the final.(PPI)
