FAISALABAD: All Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and industrial sector will observe three-day gas closure from Thursday morning, Geo News reported.
According to the schedule, all CNG stations and industrial sectors of Faisalabad will face gas suspension under load management schedule from 6 am on Thursday (today) to 6 am on December 11 (Sunday).
The spokesman of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) said the country is facing severe gas shortage, therefore to overcome the gas shortfall, SNGPL had evolved a load management schedule for CNG stations.
Initially the gas closure was for 2 days in a week but when the shortage became more severe, the company extended the gas closure for CNG stations for up to 3 days in a week.
On the other hand, the industrial sector of Faisalabad is adversely affected by the gas loadshedding as the production has come to a halt, bringing misery to the daily wagers.
The industrialists termed the 3-day closure a disaster for industrial sector and will stage a protest against gas loadshedding at the press club.
They warned of continuous protests and non-payment of bills if the gas distribution is not done on equality.
Transporters also took advantage of the situation by raising fares, causing difficulty to the commuters.
The districts affected by three-day CNG closure include Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Mianwali, Khushaab and Chiniot.
