MULTAN: The shortage of doctors at Ch. Pervez Elahi Institute of Cardiology has been affecting the patients as the number of cardiac surgeries has gone down at this institute for the past several weeks.
Hospital sources, on the condition of anonymity, said here on Thursday that pending cases have crossed the figure of six thousand to date.
It may be noted that this hospital (Multan Institute of Cardiology) receives a number of patients from far flung areas as well.
Sources said recently the services of 13 Adhoc doctors, mostly belonging to Anaesthesia department, were terminated which further aggravated the problems. Concerned higher officials said these doctors were advised to re-appear for regular induction process later.
Meanwhile, PMA Multan general secretary Kashif Chishti has regretted the deteriorating situation and has demanded early steps to address people's problems.
Hospital administration said that the issue was brought to the notice of Health department, Punjab and measures were awaited in this regard. (APP)
