RAWALPINDI: In order to facilitate the citizens regarding smooth traffic flow in the flyover site's surroundings here at Chandni chowk, additional traffic wardens have been deployed besides setting up of a traffic camp office to monitor the traffic flow.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Ghulam Abbas Tarar himself will sit in the camp office to ensure regular flow of traffic and to monitor the performance of the traffic wardens so that all the traffic problems currently being faced by the public could be resolved quickly.
A Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) level officer would remain present all the time in the camp office and would report every development to CTO. Additional charge of DSP has also been given in this regard to Inspector, Sohail Mumtaz who will perform duty during first shift. While DSP Zagum Abbas would supervise the traffic arrangement in second shift.
CTO Ghulam Abbas Tarar said that all out efforts would be made to mitigate traffic related difficulties being confronted by the citizens due to the construction work of the project. But, he made it clear that due to delay in completion of the task of shifting work of utility services including Wapda, PTCL traffic situation is further aggravating. Ghulam Abbas Tarar also urged the citizens to use alternative routes instead of Benazir Bhutto Hospital to Sixth road portion of road to reach their destinations during Chandni Chowk flyover construction period.
He urged the citizens to cooperate with traffic police so that all traffic related problems could be address properly.
Under the traffic plan devised for the regular traffic flow, traffic police officers have been directed to take action against violators of traffic rules in accordance with the law.
He said traffic wardens have also been directed to work with dedication and commitment and ensure the traffic flow so that traffic mess particularly on congested roads could be averted.
He informed that for the smooth flow of traffic on Murree road 46 traffic wardens have also been transferred from Race Course Traffic Headquarters and deployed in New Town, Murree road and Sadiqabad sector. (APP)
