Pak-China hockey series begins today

KARACHI: The first of the historic four match hockey Test series between Pakistan and China is being played on Wednesday here at the Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium.

The visitors will play back-to-back matches at the HCP before moving to Faisalabad and Lahore for remainder of the series.

The series will mark return of international hockey matches in Pakistan since 2004 Champions Trophy in Lahore due to reluctance of teams to tour the country on security
apprehensions.

High security measures have been taken for this series and the Chinese team expressed satisfaction on arrangements.

“We are feeling comfortable,” China coach coach Li Gaochao told reporters at a press conference at HCP on Tuesday. We were promised top security and we are satisfied with it. The people here are also very friendly and hospitable.”
