Protestors block Quetta-Karachi highway

QUETTA: Angry protestors blocked Quetta-Karachi section of national highway here Wednesday.

According to details residents of Burma hotel Sariab road blocked Quetta-Karachi section in the area due to low pressure of gas in severe cold weather. They shouted slogans against SSGC officials and burnt tyre along the road.

Speakers on the occasion said Quetta City is gripped by severe cold weather nowadays. There is 15 hours electricity load shedding and 6 hours load shedding of gas in the area. It was creating serious problems for the dwellers. In the absence of gas and electricity people were falling ill.

WAPDA and Gas officials' have been informed repeatedly but their problem was not resolved. They said people regularly pay their electricity and gas bills. Still there was load shedding. They said load shedding of gas and electricity should be lifted immediately. Administration assured the protestors their problems would be resolved.

Thereupon road was opened for traffic.
