KARACHI: Police claimed on Tuesday having apprehended main accused of firing on students of Jamia Farooqia, Shah Faisal Colony in which one student of the religious seminary was killed and four got injured.
This was told by Additional IG Karachi Akhtar Hussain Gorchani in a meeting with fifteen-member delegation of Ulema led by Moulana Abdul Khaliq. The meeting was also attended by DIG East Akram Naeem, SSP East Jawed Akhtar and other senior police officers.
The delegation provided all details of the incident to the police. The delegation was informed by police that ASP Shah Faisal Colony was transferred and DSP Shakil Awan was appointed who is personally investigating the case.
Additional IG Karachi on the request of the delegation set up an inquiry committee under the supervision of SP Niaz to probe alleged negligence of the police in the incident. If the police found negligence or anybody exploited his authority in the incident, the committee would recommend legal action against the guilty, he added.
Akhtar Hussain Gorchani directed DIG East to complete all security measures after consultation with Ulema and to take every possible step to arrest the absconders of incident and to report progress of FIR of the incident in a week.
