LAHORE: Former head coach Misbah ul Haq had reservations with team selection and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which led to his resignation, sources revealed to Geo News Monday.
In an inside story of Misbah ul Haq's resignation, it was revealed that Misbah resigned from his post of head coach due to conflicts with the board.
According to sources, PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan met with Misbah and asked him to take some rest before the cricket series against New Zealand.
Misbah had wished to coach the team for the Pak v NZ series, while he also had reservations over the team selection.
Sources revealed that Misbah was strictly against the inclusion of Azam Khan in the team and he had an argument with PCB CEO Wasim Khan over the team selection.
It was revealed that Misbah resigned due to conflicts with the board and his reservations over team selection.
Sources further revealed that Waqar Younis was asked to resign from his position as bowling coach.
Earlier today, it was revealed that head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis stepped down from their respective coaching roles.
Misbah and Waqar were appointed in September 2019 and still had a year each left in their contracts.
With the New Zealand side due to arrive on 11 September for the three ODI and five T20I series against Pakistan, the PCB has appointed Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdul Razzaq as interim coaches for the series.

Coaches for the T20 World Cup Scheduled for October are yet to be revealed.
Misbah had revealed earlier today that he was not in the "right frame of mind for the upcoming challenge" and that's why had decided to step down from his position.
Meanwhile, Waqar Younis had stated that after Misbah shared his plans with him, it was a straightforward decision for him as they had walked into the roles together, had worked collectively as a pair and now also step down together.
