The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday announced a reshuffle in the top leadership of the Pakistan army.
Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza had been posted as Commander Rawalpindi Corps, and Lieutenant General Muhammad Chiragh Haider has been appointed Commander as Multan Corps, ISPR said.
The ISPR added Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas has been appointed as Chief of General Staff, and Lieutenant General Muhammad Waseem Ashraf has been picked as Director General Joint Staff Headquarters.
In April this year, the Pakistan Army had upgraded the ranks of several brigadiers to major general in a promotion board meeting — presided over by Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa — held at General Headquarters.
Brigadiers Sheharyar Parvez Butt, Omar Maqbool, Muhammad Asim Khan, Ghulam Muhammad, Muhammad Nadeem Ashraf, Amer Ashfaq Kayani, Muhammad Imtanan Babar, Abdul Sami, Umar Ahmad Shah, and Muhammad Shahid Siddeeq were promoted to the rank of major general.
Moreover, Brigadiers Muhammad Farhan Yousaf, Muneer Ud Din, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Noor Wali Khan, Kamal Anwar Chaudhry, Salman Moin, Naseem Anwer, Malik Amir Muhammad Khan, Adnan Sarwar Malik, Mohammad Qaddafi, Brigadier Muhammad Naeem Akhtar, Muhammad Shahab Aslam, Brigadier Nadeem Yousaf, Brigadier Farrukh Shahzad Rao, and Brigadier Khurram Nisar also received the promotion.
Similarly, from the Army Medical Corps, Brigadiers Iftikhar Ahmed Satti, Syed Adil Hussain, Qamar Un Nisa Choudhry, Irfan Ali Mirza, Muhammad Rafiq Zafar, Muhammad Waseem, Muhammad Suhail Amin, Naseer Ahmad Samore, Shazia Nisar, Eijaz Ghani, Arshad Naseem, and Nadeem Ahmad Rana were promoted to the ranks of major general.
