KARACHI: World number 10 Iran Tuesday outclassed Pakistan with an incredible 3-0 win in the Asian Volleyball Championship.

Pakistani squad suffered the defeat after registering two straight triumphs against Thailand and Hong Kong in the mega event played in Japan.

However, after winning the two initial matches, Pakistan has qualified for the eighth round of the championship.

All the teams that have qualified for round-8 will be divided into two groups and there will be a classification round.

Pakistan beats Thailand

Earlier on September 12, Pakistan had kicked off its campaign with a 3-2 win over a better-ranked Thailand.

The credit of Pakistan’s win against Thailand went to the collective effort by the team that helped it make several comebacks and win the game eventually.

The team had lost the first set at 22-25, despite its lead at 10-7, and went down again at 10-3 in the second set. However, it managed to make a remarkable comeback to level the match at 1-1, winning the second set at 25-23.

If Pakistan hadn’t gone down at 21-25 in the third set despite leading at 21-18 at a point, they would have won it as well.
