ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) Senator Mian Raza Rabbani said on Wednesday that committee has proposed 35 consensus recommendations to review relations with US, NATO and foreign policy.
Talking to journalists after attending the meeting, he said: "The committee has purposed 16 main and 19 sub recommendations to review overall terms of engagements with US, NATO, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and country's foreign policy.
Senator Raza Rabbani said these recommendations would now be sent to the speaker of National Assembly while one copy of it would also be dispatched to Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani.
He said the committee secretariat would complete final draft of the recommendations.
These would be tabled in the joint session of the parliament for final approval, he said adding the parliament has power to make any amendments in it.
To a question, he said, the committee has not power to call joint session of the parliament and the government can summon the session for approval.
Raza Rabbani said proposals from defence ministry and foreign office have been included by the committee.
Earlier, the meeting of PCNS was held under the chairmanship of Senator Mian Raza Rabbani at Parliament House.
The meeting was also attended by senators Ishaq Dar, Prof Khurshid Ahmed, Abdul Rahim Mandokhel and Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, Munir Khan Orakzai, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao. (APP)
