RAWALPINDI: A dacoit was arrested by the shopkeepers while two others managed to escape after looting gold and silver worth millions of rupees from a Gold Refinery Workshop, located at Asghar Mall Scheme, in the limits of Banni Police Station on Wednesday.

Giving details, Superintendent of Police (SP) Malik Matloob said that three armed dacoits entered the workshop owned by Suleman alias Boota and made the employees hostage and took away 15 kg raw silver and 49 tola ornaments.

He confirmed that police have arrested a person and investigation is underway. The shopkeepers, later, handed over the robber to police.

According to police, a pistol and some bullets were recovered from his possession, while a hunt has been launched to trace the escaped dacoits.

According to details, three armed dacoits barged into Al-Noor Jewelers' Gold workshop and made six employees hostages on gunpoint.

The robbers collected 50 tolas gold and 1500 tolas silver and fled. Meanwhile, an employee made hue and cry which got attention of the shopkeepers who managed to capture a dacoit.

However, two dacoits decamped with the gold and silver. the gold refinery was owned by Zafar Iqbal alias Boota.

The shopkeepers, later handed it over the dacoit to the police. (APP)
