ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik is appearing before the judicial commission probing the memo scandal.
Malik was summoned by the commission to explain his statements about Mansoor Ijaz’s security.
The Interior Minister said his statements regarding Ijaz were misquoted and he had never threatened anyone.
Malik further informed the commission that Mansoor Ijaz’s name was not being placed on the ECL.
The Interior Minister added that Mansoor Ijaz would be provided full security when he appears before the commission to which Ijaz's lawyer Akram Sheikh was told by the commission to contact his client.
Earlier during proceedings, the court asked about Mansoor Ijaz's absence from his counsel Akram Sheikh and said that Mansoor Ijaz is the prime witness, therefore, his security should be ensured.
Sheikh informed the commission that his client wanted to come to Pakistan but he was constantly receiving threats while on the other hand, he was not satisfied with the security provided by the interior ministry.
