Cold grips Quetta Valley

QUETTA: Life was crippled following rain, snowfall and cold spell Saturday. Quetta-Chaman and Ziarat-Sanjavi roads were closed for traffic due to heavy snowfall.

According to details a severe cold spell gripped Quetta Valley and northern parts of the province Saturday afternoon in the wake of long spread rains, snowfall on the hill tops around Quetta and Ziarat, Kan Mehterzai, Toba Kakari, Toba Achakzai, and Kozhak Top.

Traffic along Quetta-Chaman section of national highway and Ziarat Sanjavi section was closed due to heavy snowfall. People were forced to remain at their homes due to heavy snowfall in Ziarat.

Cold spell from West started lashing the valley from 14 to 35 knots. Electricity played hide and seek in Quetta and it disappeared in Khartoabad, Pashtoonabad, Balochi Street, Sariab road, Qambrani areas. Reports of low pressure of gas were also received from various areas.

Local Met office has predicted hazy, cloudy weather with chances of thunder rain and snowfall over the hills during the coming 24 hours.
