ISLAMABAD: National Assembly on Wednesday deferred the bill of 20th amendment to the Constitution for the sixth time, Geo News reported.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People's Party leader Khursheed Shah, brushing aside any deadlock, claimed that progress had been made towards evolving a consensus over the 20th amendment.
He said recommendations had come from both sides and the PPP leadership would be briefed about the same. "However, it is possible that leadership of our party or of the opposition may not agree on these recommendations," he added.
Shah said the Prime Minister would be briefed about the progress achieved on the matter.
"Both the government and opposition would hold consultations with their respective leaderships," he said, adding the matters will be finalized in a day or two.
However, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar said that only the deadlock had been melted but, in the same breath, added that progress was made over his party's recommendations during negotiations.
He said it would become clear by tomorrow whether a consensus on the matter is reached or not.
