KARACHI: An accountability court in Karachi sent former taluka municipal officer (TMO) of Sindh's Sujawal district, Mumtaz Ali Zardari on 14-day physical remand in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody.
Three officials of Sehwan Municipal Authority, Zahoor Shahani, Rehmat Memon and Idrees Memon were also sent on 14-day physical remand.
The detained officials were presented before the court by NAB who requested the judge for the suspects remand for interrogation in the case of embezzlement of millions of rupees.
Ex-TMO Sujawal Mumtaz Zardari was also presented before the court.
"The arrested accused was allegedly involved in corruption worth Rs.100 million which he committed through withdrawal of illegal cheques and issued huge amounts to fake contractors/parties," said a press release issued by NAB Karachi.
The culprits were arrested on corruption charges a day earlier.
