Steps being taken to control load-shedding: Khawaja Asif
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Mohammad Asif said Saturday that steps are being taken to control load-shedding in the holy month of Ramazan.

Asif said that the electricity load has been split between different feeders in order to control unannounced load-shedding.

He said that the situation would improve in the next two to three days.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for K-Electric Usama Qureshi said that the power crisis in Karachi was due to a spike in usage and overloading on the system.

Qureshi said that electricity usage surged in the past two days due to excessive heat in Karachi, increasing load on the system and causing outages.

The unannounced power outages came as temperatures soared across the country, with the mercury touching a high of 46 degrees in Larkana and 44 degrees Celsius in Karachi.

Taking notice, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that that load-shedding during Sehar and Iftar is not acceptable and issued instructions to address load-shedding during these times on a war-footing.
