RAWALPINDI: Administrator City District Government, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar has imposed section 144 to stop vehicles' Juma Bazaar on Benazir Bhutto Road near Rehmanabad Chowk especially on Feb 17 (Friday).
According to details, earlier Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed had issued special instructions to the authorities concerned to stop sale and purchase activities at illegal Juma bazaar of vehicles here on Benazir Bhutto Road particularly near Rehmanabad chowk.
The city administration had launched a campaign against 'Juma' bazaar of vehicles on Benazir Bhutto Road but now it has been decided to take strict action against the violators. The responsibility to stop the illegal vehicles juma bazaar has also been given to Tehsil Municipal Authority (TMA). Now TMA and police would make concerted efforts to stop the juma bazaar.
Talking to APP, TMA spokesman said that FIRs would be registered against the violators of the ban. He further said that special squads of the staff concerned of TMA and police will remain present at the site of the juma bazaar under the supervision of Town Officer Regulation (TOR) Toosef Ahmed Malik.
Earlier, Commissioner Zahid Saeed had also issued orders in this regard saying that the bazaar was not only a security risk but also great inconvenience for the residents of the area.
He directed the Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) to stop all such activities on the road and remove the bazaar in collaboration with City Traffic Police and local police but there were some complaints that the ban on juma bazaar is being violated.
The commissioner had received a large number of complaints in this connection from the residents of the nearby areas of Rehmanabad and Satellite town.
He directed that it must be ensured that the Juma Bazaar of vehicles should not be held at any other area adjacent to Benazir Bhutto Road on Feb 17.
According to the decision, if the vehicles are brought to that area for sale and purchase on Friday, would be impounded in the Police Station and FIRs would be registered against those who would violate the orders. (APP)
